Access from home

Customers often ask if they can access OTB from home.

If you elect to have OTB hosted by us, then the answer is Yes.  This will allow users to access OTB from Home (or anywhere else), eg to complete referrals, enter marks, analyse data etc.  Customers should be confident that their network bandwidth (from school) is adequate, for use throughout the school day. Generally, if access to the internet is good, then it will be feasible to use a hosted OTB.

If you elect to have OTB installed on your own (dedicated) server and attached to your school based LAN, then the answer is less straightforward.  Many LEAs do not allow access to their internal network and access is prevented by firewall rules.  However a few LEAs have implemented systems which allow access, eg from home.  If your LEA already provides access to other school based resources from home, then it is likely that access to OTB can be implemented.
