Server Specification

An in-school server running OnTheButton should have approximately the following minimum specification:
 

4Gb RAM preferred 250 GB disk CDROM Network Interface

However, the enhanced performance provided by a 64-bit machine with more than 4 Gb RAM may be worth considering.

An Operating System (eg Windows) is not required.  OnTheButton requires its own dedicated server, it is not designed to run concurrently with other services which may impact upon its performance or security.

A dedicated Video Display is not required, although when the system is being connected to the School Intranet it will be necessary to plug one in. Similarly, a keyboard is not required, except during installation. A Mouse is never required on the server.
